Teeth whitening in Enfield
A two-week shade-tracked whitening pathway with the same clinician at impressions, fitting and every annual top-up review.
Whitening at Enfield Smiles, step by step
Our whitening is a dentist-made, take-home system: custom trays moulded to your teeth and professional gel you wear at home. It brightens gradually and safely, on your own schedule.

Trays made just for you
We take a quick mould of your teeth and the lab makes slim, clear trays that fit only your mouth. A snug tray keeps the gel on the teeth and off the gums, which is what makes a custom kit so much safer and more even than a one-size shop kit.
The trays are yours to keep for top-ups later.

Planned by a dentist, not a salon
By law, only a registered dental professional may whiten teeth. We use gel within the legal UK strength, check your teeth and gums are healthy first, and show you how to use it.
That is the real difference from beauty-bar and online kits, where unknown strengths can burn gums and damage enamel.

Gentle on sensitive teeth
Whitening can cause some short-lived sensitivity, but a take-home course lets you go at your own pace and pause if you need to. We add a desensitising gel for anyone whose teeth react, so it stays comfortable.
You control how far you take it and stop at a shade you are happy with.

Brighten ahead of a big day
If you have a wedding, a milestone or photos coming up, it is worth starting a few weeks ahead so the shade has settled and looks its best. A pre-whitening hygiene clean first helps the gel work evenly.
Tell us the date and we will plan backwards from it.
Book a hygiene clean firstBright, not blinding
Professional whitening lifts your own teeth a few shades, so the result looks like a healthier version of your smile rather than the flat, unnatural white of an over-the-counter kit. Because you whiten gradually at home, you can stop exactly where it still looks like you. It is not permanent, but your custom trays mean an occasional top-up keeps it there for years.

Michelle the receptionist is amazing and she's always so kind to me and my family. My dentist is also super kind and friendly too.
Fantastic, thanks for looking after me, even though I got to my appointment late.

What it coversHow dentist-supervised whitening runs from a single Enfield chair
Whitening at Enfield Smiles takes two weeks of overnight tray wear, three visits to the chair, and a single shade-tracking record that follows you for years of top-ups. The 8:30am weekday slot makes the reviews fit a working day; the High Street counter handles top-up syringes between annual reviews.
- The system is night-guard vital bleaching: 10% carbamide peroxide gel worn overnight in custom trays cast from alginate impressions, for 10 to 14 nights. Daytime 16% carbamide is the alternative for patients who can't tolerate overnight wear.
- 6% HP legal ceiling, respected. Our 10% carbamide gel breaks down to roughly 3.5% hydrogen peroxide in solution, comfortably inside the EU Cosmetic Directive cap. Non-UK gels at 30 to 35% HP sold online or through salons are unlawful here.
- Whitening can only legally be dispensed by a GDC-registered dental professional in the UK. Salon whitening, beauty-spa kits and unsupervised subscription boxes have been prosecuted by the GDC; supervision means we set the gel concentration to your enamel sensitivity rather than dispense a one-size dose.
- Sequenced with a SmileAlign aligner course: if you're in the last 4 to 6 weeks of clear-aligner treatment, the whitening gel can be loaded into your final aligners directly, doubling them as whitening trays and saving a separate impression visit.
- Sensitive enamel cases get a 5% potassium nitrate desensitiser layered into the trays for the first 3 to 5 nights, plus a sodium fluoride paste recommendation for daytime, so rebound sensitivity stays mild and short.
- Annual shade-check booked into the diary by default, so the result is monitored rather than left to memory. Top-up syringes work with your original custom trays for years, dispensed at the counter when due.
Enfield whitening FAQs
Can I whiten while I'm finishing my SmileAlign aligner course?
Yes, and it's the most efficient sequencing if your aligner case is in the final 4 to 6 weeks. We load the whitening gel into the last aligners directly, so they double as the whitening trays. The shade lifts as the teeth are settling into their new position, and you save the cast-impression step entirely.
I had whitening done at a salon in Edmonton, can you fix the result?
Yes, often. Salon whitening in the UK is illegal (only dental professionals can legally dispense the gel concentrations needed), and we see uneven results, gum burns and enamel sensitivity from those treatments. We assess the damage, dispense a slower dentist-led course in custom trays, and add desensitiser if rebound is severe.
How long will the result last in north London water?
Tap-water hardness has no effect on whitening longevity; it's coffee, red wine, smoking and time that drive shade regression. Expect 12 to 24 months between top-ups for non-smokers, 6 to 12 months for smokers or heavy coffee drinkers. The annual review catches it before regression accelerates.
Is the course fee the whole cost or does it grow?
The full-course fee covers the consultation, impressions, custom trays, the full 10 to 14-night gel course and the shade-guide reviews. There's no "plus VAT" or "plus gel refill" surprise. Years-later top-up syringes are extra and priced on the day, but never required to complete the original course.
Can you do whitening in time for an Enfield wedding in 6 weeks?
Yes, the typical pathway is 4 to 5 weeks: a consultation visit (week 1), pre-whitening hygiene if needed (week 2), tray cast and fit (week 3), the 10 to 14-night course (weeks 4 to 5). The 8:30am slots make the visits fit a working day so it doesn't disrupt wedding prep.
What if my crown shade no longer matches after whitening?
If a visible crown sits darker than your end-of-course shade, you've two routes: leave it (often acceptable for back teeth, less so for front), or replace the crown to match the new shade. We don't push you to replace, but we set out both options in writing as part of the cosmetic consultation if a crown is visible when you smile.
