Why it matters

Regular check-ups are a habit worth keeping

A check-up catches problems while they are small and painless. How often you need one depends on your own risk, not a fixed schedule, and we set your interval in line with NICE guidance on recall.
  • A full mouth check, not a glance

The appointment covers your teeth, gums, bite and a soft-tissue screen, well beyond a quick look in.

  • Small problems, caught small

Bitewing X-rays reveal decay between teeth before it reaches the nerve, so a simple filling beats a root canal later.

  • An interval set to you

Six months suits most people, but we match your recall to your actual risk rather than a generic schedule.

Straight talk

Feeling fine isn't the whole story

Most dental problems are silent until they are advanced, so 'no pain' is not the same as 'no problem'. Going years between visits because you feel fine is the commonest reason people end up needing big treatment.
What it costs

Clear pricing, in writing

Every quote is itemised and given to you in writing before treatment begins, with no surprise charges, nothing added at the chair, and no obligation to go ahead. NHS and private options sit side by side. The full fee schedule is on our fees and finance page.

Questions

Check-up FAQs

How often do I really need one?

It depends on what we find. Some need more frequent visits and a few can safely stretch to a year.

What does a check-up include?

Medical history, an external and soft-tissue examination (the oral cancer screen), a gum check, a tooth-by-tooth look for decay and wear, a bite assessment, and X-rays where needed.

Are the X-rays safe?

Yes. Dental bitewings use a very low dose and are only taken when clinically useful.

It's been years since my last visit.

You're very welcome back, and a long gap is more common than you'd think. We start from where things are now, talk through anything that's bothering you, and go at a pace that suits you.
