Message Ideas for Every Tooth
The certificate is editable, so the same template works for every tooth. A few ideas for the well done line:
- First tooth: being so brave with your very first wobbly tooth.
- Last baby tooth: growing up and saying goodbye to your very last baby tooth.
- A tooth that came out at school: keeping it safe all the way home.
- A dentist visit: sitting so still and brave at the dentist.
- Brushing: brushing twice a day so the new tooth has a clean home.
Make a free personalised Tooth Fairy Letter to go with their certificate, ready to fold into a little envelope under the pillow.
When Do Baby Teeth Fall Out?
Milk teeth usually start to fall out between the ages of five and six, and most children have lost all their baby teeth by 12 to 14, when a full set of 28 adult teeth has come through (not counting wisdom teeth). That is the timing NHS Inform gives, and every child runs to their own timetable.
A tooth that wobbles loose on its own is a happy milestone. A tooth knocked out in a fall is different: never put a baby tooth back in, and get your child seen by a dentist. We explain why in our piece on the baby tooth rule. A baby tooth that comes out early because of tooth decay is worth a check-up too.
How Much Does the Tooth Fairy Leave in the UK?
It depends a lot on where you live. A MoneySupermarket survey of parents of nine to 13 year olds, carried out by Censuswide in April 2025, found typical payouts of 51p to £1 a tooth in most regions, rising to £4.51 to £5 on average in Greater London and Scotland.
There is no right amount. Plenty of families leave a coin and a certificate, and the certificate is the part that ends up on the fridge.
Tooth Fairy Certificate Questions
Is the tooth fairy certificate really free?
Yes. There is no sign-up, no email address and nothing to pay. Type the details, then print the certificate or save it as a PDF.
How do I download it as a PDF?
Press Download PDF to save the certificate directly to your device. You get a one-page A4 landscape PDF you can keep, email to a grandparent or print later.
What size does the printable certificate come out?
It is set up for A4 landscape, the standard UK paper size. The artwork and colours are included in the downloaded PDF.
Can I edit the certificate before printing?
Yes. The name and the well done message change as you type, so you can see exactly what will print. The date defaults to today and can be changed. Change the message for a first tooth, a last baby tooth or a brave trip to the dentist.
Does it work for a boy or a girl?
Yes. The design is the same mint and gold for every child, and the wording uses their name, so it suits a son, a daughter, twins or a whole class.
Do you keep my child’s name?
No. Everything you type stays in your browser. Nothing is sent to Minti or stored anywhere.
Look After the New Teeth Coming Through
We look after families across Harlow and Enfield, on the NHS and privately. NHS dental care is free for under-18s, and a check-up around the time the adult teeth arrive is a good moment to see how they are coming in.
